INTERMEDIATE COURSES
Development Program - O'PEN SKIFF
ABOUT THE COURSES
The O'pen Skiff Development Program is suitable for those who have successfully completed stages one, two and three in the RCSF LTS Program, and want to further their experience and enjoyment on the water. This is also the right choice for returning Development Skiff sailors still honing their racing skills and developing the confidence and competence required to improve from a club racing level to a regatta race level.
Although this course is mostly tailored to participating in racing, we recognise not all new sailors develop a passion for racing at the same rate (which is totally fine!). The Development O'pen Skiff Program will group participants further depending on their interests, even if adventure sailing or dolphin chasing is higher on their priorities than race training!
Participants in this program will be given guidance to attend pre-selected away from home regattas throughout the season and it's our hope that they are supported to attend these events.
Sailors entering this course should provide their own boat and equipment although we will do our best to make available charters to those who are still in the market for their first O'pen Skiff. Please do remember our charter policy for use outside course sessions, listed under our Ts&Cs, which stipulates a finite number of charter uses in fairness to new sailors coming through.
In certain circumstances, the RCSF may approach and award scholarship(s) to one or more sailor(s) in this course. This will be on a case-by-case basis and include boat use and course fees for one season.
PREREQUISITES
Entrants typically enter the Development Program - O'pen Skiff following the RCSF Learn to Sail Three program.
Sailors at this stage must also be members of the Manly Sailing Club as they start to show keen interest in club activities with their friends. There is lot's on so don't miss out!

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - RS FEVA
ABOUT THE COURSE
This is an intermediate sailing program targeted at participants who are keen to develop their sailing and in particular, improve their racing repertoire. It's the right course for sailors aiming at developing the confidence and competence required to improve from an intermediate club level to a regatta race level and some of these sailors may be aiming for selection into the RCSF Performance Squad in the future.
Participants in this program will be given guidance to attend pre-selected away from home regattas throughout the sailing calendar and it is expected that, given we are developing racing skills in this course, they are supported to attend such events.
Although some sailors will develop competitive streaks, there will still be a focus on enjoyment and non-conventional activities and drills, with a key objective being to provide these sailors with the confidence to take part in club racing independently.
Sailors entering this course should provide their own boat and equipment although we will do our best to make available charters to those who are still in the market for their first RS Feva. DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - LASER RADIAL
ABOUT THE COURSE
This is an intermediate sailing program targeted at participants who are keen to develop their sailing and in particular, improve their racing repertoire. It's the right course for sailors aiming at developing the confidence and competence required to progress from an intermediate club level to a regatta race level and some of these sailors may be aiming for selection into the RCSF Performance Squad in the future.
Sailors entering this course should provide their own boat and equipment although we will do our best to make available charters to those who are still in the market for their first Laser. Please do remember our charter policy for use outside course sessions, listed under our Ts&Cs, which stipulates a finite number of charter uses in fairness to new sailors coming through.
PREREQUISITES
Entrants will typically enter this course following a growth spurt! Or, alternatively, after completing another Development level course. Entrants should also be members of the Manly Sailing Club.

Registration fee - TBC

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - WINDSURFER
ABOUT THE COURSE
This is an intermediate windsurfer course, ideal for participants who are keen to develop their skillset and perhaps, down the track, move towards a board racing level. ADVANCED COURSES
PERFORMANCE SQUAD
ABOUT THE COURSE
Courses offered at this level are the final step within the RCSF for a junior sailor's progression through to high performance youth class sailing. Sailors selected for the Performance Squad will display strong passion and drive at all times to excel in the sport of sailing and demonstrate immense dedication to succeed in their goals.
These select sailors will typically be in their third or fourth year with the Foundation, and be actively building their whole sailing package; including fitness, nutrition, technical knowledge, tactics and weather awareness. It's expected these sailors train outside of session times, and should be aiming at 6-10 hours of on water time in their training phase.
Sailors will typically be invited to enter this squad, in any class suitable in fulfilling the objectives of the program, although there is benefit to these sailors focussing on the classes recommended below;
Please contact us for more information on courses offered at this level for the following classes; RS Feva, 420, Nacra 15 or RSX.
Sailors in the Performance Squad shall in most instances, provide their own boats and equipment. There are however a limited number of yachts available for charter should your sailor be entering a new class.
In order to graduate from the Performance Squad, members will have spent between 3-6 months in their chosen youth class and display good sportsmanship on and off the water, as well as actively assist the development of younger sailors in the program. They must show initiative in their sailing schedules and take ownership of their season planning.
PREREQUISITES
Entrants typically join the Performance Squad following participation for more than a full season in the RCSF Development Program or equivalent level. During that time the sailor will be identified as showing heightened interest in pursuing National and International success. Sailors will usually be individually approached and offered a place in the Performance Squad.
COST
Registration Fee^ O'pen Skiff - TBC
