Fundamental PrincipLEs
We believe that when sailors learn in a safe, supportive environment and genuinely enjoy the experience, they gain the confidence to grow, stay engaged, and pursue the sport as far as their passion takes them.
Meet the team
LEARN TO SAIL. HAVE FUN.
The Russell Coutts Sailing Foundation gets kids hooked on sailing while building confidence, skills, and a love for the sport. Led by coaches who’ve come through the program, some with international junior, youth and foiling titles, we offer top-quality training, fun on the water, and a clear pathway from first sail to sailing competency.

An introduction to boats, water safety and the principles of sailing, including tacking, gybing and capsizing! Continue with Learn to Sail Two and Three to expand your knowledge, build confidence around the water, improve boat control and your sailing technique. You'll also learn more about weather, sailing races, protecting our beaches and seamanship.
Development programOnce you have completed our Learn To Sail program in the O'pen Skiff there are many sailing options to take for next steps. This includes continuing in the O'pen Skiff, trying double-handed boats, giving the ILCA a crack or learning to fly on the Wingfoil. The focus of the Development courses is on skill development and enjoyment.
Race programThe Race level courses are for our advanced sailors who have competitive aspirations. These courses are run by top level coaches, most with National titles and multiple years of experience. Sailors in these courses are often expected to have their own boats and be competing in club racing and regattas.

With special thanks to the kind generosity of Russell and Jenny Coutts
The main measures of our success are
the attraction and retention of young sailors,
who have previously had little or no sailing experience
