LEARN TO SAIL COURSES
LEarn to Sail LEVELS 1 - 3
ABOUT THE COURSE
This course is for the sailor that is keen enough to want to sail when the water temperature is dropping!  For sailors that want to continue their sailing into the beginning of winter, this course will be all about keeping them on the water.  They will sail a variety of boats with the emphasis on having fun.  Participation in this will not necessarily move them to the next level for next season, but it will keep their love of sailing alive.

This time of the year the weather can be unreliable, cold and windy, so they need to be prepared for that.

A boat, lifejacket, helmet, team vest, and spray jacket are all provided for participants in this course.  We do ask sailors to bring with them a wetsuit, beanie or hat, poly props (colder months especially), booties (neoprene boat shoes/old trainers that can get wet), sun cream, togs and to be prepared for adventure!

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED COURSES
O'PEN SKIFF
ABOUT THE COURSES
The O'pen Skiff Development Program is suitable for those who have successfully completed stages one, two and three in the RCSF LTS Program, and want to further their experience and enjoyment on the water.  This is also the right choice for returning Development Skiff sailors still honing their racing skills and developing the confidence and competence required to improve from a club racing level to a regatta race level.

The expectation is that in between coaching sessions, sailors will train on the water without a coach.  Creating this culture of sailors getting on the water together outside of scheduled coaching sessions requires more support from parents, and we believe that this is fundamental in keeping sailors in the sport.

Participants in this program will be given guidance to attend pre-selected away from home regattas throughout the season and it's our hope that they are supported to attend these events.

Sailors entering this course should provide their own boat and equipment although we will do our best to make available charters to those who are still in the market for their first O'pen Skiff.

In certain circumstances, the RCSF may approach and award scholarship(s) to one or more sailor(s) in this course.  This will be on a case-by-case basis and include boat use and course fees for one season.

Participants can expect to look at new concepts such as apparent wind sailing, and learn crucial windsurfing techniques such as efficient pumping, planing and using the harness.
