Sailors may join the programme at any level, depending upon their prior experience.  We will generally invite you to attend Manly Sailing Club prior to the commencement of the course in order to ascertain which course is likely to be the most beneficicial and enjoyable.

2018 courses: term 2 (APRIL - july)

LEVEL 1 PLUS - registrations now closed

5 Sessions, $120.00
​For sailors who have just completed Level 1 and want to continue sailing through term two.  Lessons are fortnightly on Sunday mornings.  The fee includes use of a Foundation boat.

LEVEL 2 PLUS - REGISTRATIONS now CLOSED

For sailors who have just completed Level Two and want to continue sailing through term two in preparation to sail in the Mid Winter Regatta if they’d like to.  Lessons are fortnightly on Saturday afternoons.  The fee includes use of a Foundation boat.

LEVEL 3 Plus

For sailors who have just completed Level Three and want to continue sailing through term two in preparation to sail in the Mid Winter Regatta if they’d like to.  Lessons are on Sunday afternoons and will be a mix of coached Club Racing and coaching.

level 4 plus - advanced racing and tactics

9 Sessions, $300.00
​For sailors who are competing in events, advanced coaching in Bics and Lasers.  Some sessions will be sailed at other local clubs to give the sailors more variety (eg learning to race where currents have a significant effect on conditions) and introduce them to other sailors in their class.  Sailors must have their own boats.

what to bring

  • Swim suit

  • Windbreaker
  • Helmet (helmets are provided at Level 1)
  • Warm clothing
  • Closed in soft beach shoes or neoprene booties
  • Wetsuits (if you have)
  • Sailing gloves (if you have)
Sailing clothing is dependent on seasonal conditions. For the first-time applicants, the MSC can provide life-jackets but not wetsuits.

Parental Involvement

For levels 1 - 4, it is both expected and required that parents/caregivers will participate in the day to day operation of on and off water support for each coaching session.  Full training will be given.

Additional Fees
Levels 3 and above will require a club membership (junior or family memberships are available)
Levels 3 and above will need to own or charter a boat
All prices are inclusive of GST

Course Scholarships

​An opportunity exists for an applicant with some extenuating circumstances to be offered a scholarship to subsidise them through the course and or provide a Bic boat for a complete season.

​A scholarship will only be offered after reviewing the findings from the initial interview or at the completion of Level Two. The complete details of a scholarship will only be revealed to an applicant at the time of an offer being made.
